Sandia Peak Studios creates photography and film from lived environments — open roads, changing weather, working machines, natural materials and equipment used with purpose. The work favors restraint over noise and imagery that feels authored rather than assembled.

The Studio
Built from time spent outside.
Sandia Peak Studios was founded by Gerald Ortiz, a photographer and lifelong outdoorsman with a deep interest in environment, movement, materials and machines.
The studio’s perspective comes from time spent backpacking, mountain biking, fly fishing, snowboarding, working around vehicles and photographing the landscapes of the American Southwest.
That experience informs the work through an understanding of how products, people and machines actually exist in their environments.
